Our Pudding Mill Lane pumping station features in this months RIBA Journal – in an issue entitled: Power and Production – Architects and Infrastructure.

Quotes from In the Pink article by Eleanor Young:

“The form has great simplicity and a hunkered down sense of power.”

“Lyalls design has most in common with Rogers’ (LDDC pumping station): the circular plan and intense colour. But Pudding Mill Pumping Station is a much more polite and even refined building with its cloak of concrete.”

The March issue of RIBA Journal can be viewed online here.

Pudding Mill lane also featured in a 6 page article in the Architects Journal click here to open. It will also appear in the Autumn edition of Concrete Quarterly.

The Aquatic Centre from the bus!

JLA were very pleased to be taken on a guided tour of the Olympic Park the other day – as a thank-you for our work t on the Olympic project to date. Here are a few of our photos from what was a really interesting trip. The Velodrome was a real stand out building, while the Aquatic centre was always going to be great to see close-up. We also heard a fascinating talk from the head architect at Lend Lease about the Olympic Village – the photos and our initial impression don’t really do it justice; the plans and particularly section look like they will create a really interesting series of places – with generous floor to ceiling heights, winter gardens and private garden spaces. It was a really interesting afternoon!

And although our Pumping Station was probably not most people’s highlight of the tour…our guide – The ODAs head of design Jerome Frost – did give some very nice words as we drove past!
